SAILING YACHT REBECCA OF VINEYARD HAVEN
Rebecca of Vineyard Haven, a vessel renowned for its timeless elegance, was meticulously designed by the talented Nat Benjamin and brought to life by the esteemed craftsmen of Martha's Vineyard's Gannon and Benjamin shipyard in 2001. The remarkable journey of her construction was beautifully captured in the insightful book "Schooner: Building a Wooden Boat on Martha's Vineyard" authored by Tom Dunlop.

With a nod to the refined aesthetics of the 1930s, Rebecca seamlessly blends in with the distinguished Brilliant at Mystic Seaport Museum. The influences of esteemed naval architects like Nathaniel Herreshoff, John Alden, and Olin Stephens can be observed in the subtle design elements that grace her classic silhouette.
Rebecca stands as a testament to traditional craftsmanship, skillfully built using a combination of domestic and tropical hardwoods, including Angelique, White Oak, and Silver Bali. These carefully chosen materials not only enhance her beauty but also ensure her resilience on the open waters.

Since her launch, Rebecca has embarked on memorable journeys, cruising and partaking in exhilarating races across Europe, New England, and the Caribbean. She has become a cherished companion for adventurers, offering them the joy of exploring the seas with a touch of timeless elegance.

DAY CHARTER
Day chartering the sailing yacht Rebecca of Vineyardhaven is an incredible way to spend a day. A typical day charter starts with meeting the yacht, Captain and Crew, followed by boarding and storing of food, luggage and items which require stowage. Next it's time for drinks, snacks and discussing the plan and making sure it the plan is satisfactory to the guests needs and expectations. This is usually a recap on discussions which the Captain has had with the Client prior to charter.
Once off the dock, enjoy the cruise out into the Sound. If you're Sailing out of Mystic Seaport Museum, Rebecca will need to proceed through two bridges and navigate the Mystic river. This is done on engine and usually takes about an hour. Ounce out in the sound its time to freshen up the beverages before sails are hoisted.

Sometimes, We sail to an anchorage to stop for a swim and lunch, other times we just keep sailing and take lunch on the fly.
It's always an adventure.

If clients have a special itinerary or plan, feel free to discuss options and feasibility with us and your Captain.

Overnight Charter
Overnight Charter aboard Rebecca is where the adventure really begins.
Overnight charter allows you to expand your cruising area. Really getting off the beaten path with a crew that will feel more like part of the family than the run of the mill, formal, white pleated shirt fraternity which is so often associated with Luxury Yacht Charter. Although we couldn’t describe our style of charter as “Luxury Yacht Charter” … it’s leans more toward, Adventure Yacht Charter.
Rebecca is Captained by a young woman named Annie. She is quick to smile, feisty, loves a good laugh, and spear heads the moment with effortless boat handling, style, and grace.
Cody is Annie’s right-hand man and partner. He has a calming influence with his levelheaded approach to life, great tase in music, out of this world hair, and easy-going smile. He can turn a wrench and flip an egg. We are lucky to have them.
The accommodation situation below decks, leans toward the family and close friends’ end. There are no private cabins, and everyone shares the same shower. This may be off putting to some, but when you take a moment to appreciate the opportunity of getting to experience sailing a very special schooner around some of the most gorgeous cruising grounds of the world with great company, it quickly becomes just another part of the Rebecca experience.
Days are spent sailing from anchorage to anchorage, with swims on either end. Sometimes there are adventures ashore. Other times just relaxing on deck with a good book. Nights are filled with good food, fabulous wine, great beer, hearty laughter, wild stories, and heavy sleep.
This experience is as close to real cruising as you will get without owning your own mighty schooner. Our ideal client realizes this and embraces the fact that what we are offering is not a padded, curated, and white gloved service, but instead an experience of a lifetime worth going on with those that you love and who’s company you enjoy.

Caribbean Schedule for 2023 and 2024
In the fall of 2023 Mystic Seaport Museum hopes to send Rebecca to the Caribbean. We plan on starting the Caribbean season in December of 2023 out of the US and British Virgin Islands.

Rebecca hopes to participate in a few of the Caribbean Regattas, from Antigua Classics to St. Maarten Race Week.

We hope to take the same model that has made our program a success in New England, and replicate it. We believe our style of mixing family, friends and adventure charter with a few regattas is a recipe for a program that last.

If you have any interest in chartering during the Caribbean season of 2023 and 2024 please email: charters@mysticseaport.org or call +1 401 855 4281
